I couldn’t function yesterday morning. The house was a wreck. I spent ALL day cleaning and organizing to get everything back in order. Somewhere in between polishing the refrigerator and putting away laundry, I took every piece of fabric I own off the shelves in my studio and began folding. I snuck a few TV shows in while I did it (Criminal Minds, CSI NY, a random Lifetime movie).
I can’t believe how many fabrics I had forgotten I had. So many projects I had planned but never got to. Plus…. perfectly folded fabric just looks so pretty, right?

thanks for the comment…love all of your folded fabric. do you just leave it out on the shelves like that? i store my in clean boxes right now, but it is so not working…trying to figure out a better storage system.

Just curious- do you prewash before folding and sticking up there?

I'm seriously envious of your fabric stash ! 😉
I need to find a way to better organize/store mine..I have a 3 drawer rolling cart but its pretty full.

It looks great.
It would have taken me three weeks to fold all the fabric I have…..

Love the fabric. I have to keep mine in boxes and every time I am looking for a specific fabric I am going through four different rooms and about 14 boxes (a friend donated all her old fabrics to me in January, about 6 boxes of calicos and 1 of flannel- she had her boxes organized by colors), shelves, drawers or armoire seeking the fabric I envisioned. Though I know what you mean when you said you discovered olf projects and fabrics you had forgotten.
I started trying to organize my fabrics by seasons, Christmas only in one box, Halloween, flannels, spring, Easter, summer, etc. BUT what I really want to invest is are clear boxes! Wow to be able to see your supplies will save you time.

You read my mind! I have been dreading trying to figure out what to do with the fabric I have (I had originally thought that folding and stacking might not give enough of a view for me to remember what it was), but looking at yours really helps!

I love to sit and admire perfectly organized things! My folded piles never look as nice as yours so I've taken to rolling it.

Wow…that is a lot of fabric!

I did this same thing the other day, except it didn't take three tv shows to get it finished. Surprisingly, it is the only organized spot in my apartment. I guess it shows priorities! 🙂

Fighting back the bitter, bitter envy….fighting so hard!!
i don't know which I'm more envious of, the gorgeous fabrics, or the fact that they are all folded!

OK, I seriously have issues. Seeing that perfectly folded fabric just made me feel so happy. I get such a rush seeing neatly organized things…it just inspires me and makes me feel like I can do anything. What is wrong with me???
Susan says
I fold my fabric just for fun 🙂
I love to get it real flat and tight. I fold it around my 9" olfa ruler to get it all the same width.
Julie @ Joy's Hope says
If it is all gone in the morning don't come looking for it. It has a good new home. That is all. Thank you.

What a lot of fabrics, I dream of having half of them. If you happen not to know what to do with them, don't hesitate to send them to France ;-)!

My stash looks a lot like that… including the happy little raggedy anne doll. 🙂 Piles of folded fabric is a very happy thing.
