I always love seeing where people work. It always gives a little more insight into their personality I think. After a little organization I took some updated photos of where I work everyday. Below is my smaller studio where I do small sewing projects and painting. All my non-knit fabric is stored on one side of the studio with my sewing machine. My large easel has a painting that will probably never be finished!
This side of my smaller studio is where I paint smaller paintings. You can see some close up photos in the last post I did on my studio.
Journals, mixed media books, gel mediums and solvents:
Finished paintings I just don’t know what to do with yet:
My second studio is a casita (guest house) outside but while Boo is young I’ve moved into our dining room so I can work and play with her at the same time. As you walk in our house, you see through a niche cutout (past the golf weather vane I took from my childhood home), my larger sewing studio/dining room:
Here is where I sew Lil Blue Boo dresses. From my chair I can see up into the living room and keep tabs on Boo!
A large rack of yummy finished dresses:
I have a dining room table and a conference room table I borrowed from my husband’s office. One is the sewing/cutting table…..the other is a shipping area. I can’t wait to reclaim my dining room at the end of this summer!
Bins of scrap knits too small to fold (every once in a while I sort them by color….but it doesn’t last long):
Our butler’s pantry is stocked with knits and wine……unlikely combo, right?!
Reclaimed knit waiting to be picked:
Stacks of new and thrifted tees as well as knit yardage:
And here is what is all looks like after a day of work:
Right now the casita is a storage room for canvases, fabric, baby stuff to sort through…..and paintings that will never have a place like this one:
I have a lot of work to do next fall cleaning out for my move! There’s my tour! Any insights?

wow Ashley! oodles of cool stuff. I take it you're moving your studio out to your casita at the end of summer? That'll be fun. All those knits are cool!
The Perfect Trio says
i would LOVE to sew in a space like that!!!!
April: Modern-Mama says
I will come keep you organized if you let me move in and play in all those knits! haha

One word…..jealous!!!! I am so jealous of all your work space. Oooooh!! I could be so crafty! Especially if I could see all my stuff laid out and arranged so nicely. I would never come out! Thanks for sharing! Off to go dream about it!
Ashley says
Thanks gals….Meredith, there isn't much HOUSE left now with all the space I've taken up 😉

Loooove this post! I really enjoy seeing people's work spaces as well! 🙂 Yours is so amazing! 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing. Maybe I'm not so productive b/c anytime I want to sew, I have to take my sewing machine out, clear the kitchen table (which often serves as a storage table! ha!) which can take forever, clean a space on the floor to cut fabric…and then put everything away after I'm done! ha ha ha! Seeing spaces like yours makes me feel so happy! 🙂 Thanks again for sharing! 🙂

In your smaller studio, how do you have your ribbon hung up under the shelf? I can tell it seems to be hanging, but can't tell from what. I'm always trying to find a new way to organize my ribbon. Any advice would help. Thanks!
Ashley says
You can see better photos here of the ribbon….I just bought a skinny dowel from the hardware store and hung it with loops of string from the shelf above!

I love seeing other people's spaces, too. Are you moving moving or just moving your workspace?

I have an idea for your painting! Sell them people would scoop them up in a second. You are sooo much more organized than me! Great work space!!
Forever You says
Amazing ! My sewing studio/room looks more like yours at the end of a day picks LOL. But the first pics of neat folded thing just inspired me to actually take time to clean it all out.. The problem is it wont last long..
Beautiful knits out there you have Ashley

Lovely work spaces! I am confined to the back half of a large walk in closet! I hope to have a larger craft room of my own one day. We just moved, but when I get it all sorted, I will take pictures to start my blog with. 🙂
Lynette says
Thanks for the tour…I'm so jealous of all those knits!!! So, I was noticed the tread on your serger is 4 different colors….do you sew with it like that? How fun!!! Do you use a sewing machine for your dresses or only the serger?
kpmattingly says
SO FUN!!! And I love that turtle dress on the rack! I wish I had space like that to craft!! You do amazing work.
Molly says
your house looks like my Heaven! do you sew dresses in 12 month sizes?? (maybe a bit smaller? I have a petit 10 month old…)
Barb says
So jealous of your serger and the space you have to leave things out!! My sewing space is very small and in the same room as our office and storage…needless to say I am dying for some shelves where I can just leave things out & see them – and not hide them away in my totes.
I think your space looks great!
Attilio says
aaahhh so so so wish i have a teeeny bit of the space you have…i sew in the lounge next to the kids watching tv/playing/running around. I craft on the dining table with the kids playing/running around. I cook in the kitchen with the kids playing/running around. I browse/read blogs like Lil blue boo with the kids playing/running around. I pee in the bathroom with the kids running in and out opening and closing the door!!! oh how i so envy you…
but then again I learn so much from you and your talents that I am happy…
Keep well girl! and thanks for sharing all… 😉

I love your space. This gives me lots of inspiration for designing my new studio. As a creative person, I think you need to be able to see everything out in the open, but some organization is good too. And of course, lots of inspiration materials!

Love seeing your space…I'm definitely drooling over all of your "supplies". I literally stopped breathing for a second when I saw that purple dress with the turquoise turtles. My daughter LOVES turtles and it is so hard to find things with turtles on them. What size is it? Is it sold? When are you going to post it?
Katie says
Your house is beautiful! And it was seeing your workspace. I love seeing all those piles of knits. You are one busy lady! 🙂 Thanks for the peek inside!
Katie says
*It was FUN seeing your workspace.

I, too, am intrigued by other's work spaces. I love yours and am inspired just looking at all the fun media you have to work with. I recently did a blog post where I featured my "in progress" work space and am planning on showing my sister's workspace (she uses her dining room table too:)) I was thinking about featuring inspiring studio spaces from the blogosphere; would you mind if I linked to your page? Let me know, thanks!

I also enjoy a peek into a person's creative space. You have an awesome area to do all your work. I like the black and white photo on the wall, which I assume is of your little one. Makes me think I should do the same with the B&W print of my baby. I also like that you provided a lot of photos for inspiration. Thank you.
