Boo is a great kid: full of energy, excited about everything, independent, well-behaved…….UNTIL she wants juice. Then we have tantrums, yelling, screaming etc. It’s crazy! The “juice” demands became so out of control that now first thing every morning she gets juice money. If she runs out of juice dollars she has to drink water. She’s getting really good at budgeting.
Now she weighs her options: should I drink juice now or save it for later?

Wow what a good idea!!! I am lucky my little one loves water and asks for it regularly! This may work for some other snacks in our house though…..
I wonder if I could use this with my husband and soda??? Something to think about!!
CupcakeLiz09 says
I was thinking the exact same thing! lol My girls are really good about drinks, but snacks are their weakness, and my hubby ‘just has to have’ pop…lol…thanks for an easy solution Ashley! 😀

Love the idea! May adapt to my kiddos for a few other items 🙂 Has she negotiated adding water to make it last longer?

You just amaze me! That is the smartest parenting idea I have seen! I LOVE it and am going to do it with my twins. They throw huge fits about juice, and you can imagine what that’s like with 2 of them. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Katie says
Haha! Perhaps I should do this with my daughter. She tends to be this way about milk. 🙂

Cool idea.
I wonder how long a kid could go without hearing of TV or juice or soda or whatever? Do they always get candy and soda when they’re old enough to go to school anyway? I always figured I would have a “no soda for the kids” rule in my house, but figure that’s likely impossible. I’d never thought of juice money or TV money or setting a certain number of times a day a kid could have something. I like the idea… cute and effective.
Pumpkinbear says
I think it’s possible. We don’t do soda or candy in our house and we have a limit on TV, and the kiddos don’t freak out because that’s just the way life works here. Now, the computer…yikes! It’s tricky when you’re trying to establish limits, and the kids remember a time when there were no limits, or the limits gave them more computer. I imagine that’s where the budgeting games come in really handy.

Love it! My daughter is 6 and we have told her she gets one cup of koolaid or gatorade and one cup of juice a day, then she can have as much milk or water as she can swallow. I will definitely be doing this if we have anymore issues.
Mindy says
I love this idea. I think I may use this plus a little added dollars she can earn for other things. I am having huge behavior issues. Thanks
