Hello everyone, this is Brett (Mr. LBB). I have been reading Ashley all of your warm wishes this morning and we wanted to say thank you. Unfortunately she had to spend last night in the ICU, after having to undergo a five hour emergency hysterectomy due to abdominal bleeding (she lost 4 liters of blood) that could not be stopped during surgery. Her primary surgeon said that it was a miracle that her body decided to bleed at the precise moment she was on the operating table and not sooner. Because of this he was able to quickly identify the problem area and proceed with the hysterectomy. While the hysterectomy was completely unexpected, due to the invasive nature of the tumor and the probability that it had begun to work through the wall of the uterus her Dr’s were very prepared. We are extremely grateful for her physicians and the wonderful care they took with her during the procedure. I will spare you more details and let Ashley tell you in typical Ashley-fashion very soon.
She was able to be moved to a regular recovery room this morning around 11:30 where she will remain for the next 3 to 4 days, after which she will immediately begin chemotherapy to try to fight off the remaining tumors in her lungs and liver. Thank you again for all of your prayers and well wishes, we know that they were heard and that she is with us because of them.
And just so you know she was back to her normal demanding, neurotic-self.

Oh my! I’m so glad to hear that Ashley is back to her normal demanding self..but I’m so so sorry for all of the complications that have happened. While I know it’s a blessing that she was ON the operating table when she started to bleed out, I still have tears for the fact that she had to have a hysterectomy. I am sure the physical recovery will be painful, I just pray that the emotional recovery isn’t too painful. Much love and warm wishes to you all.

Our son was diagnosed with a bone cancer in his skull 5 1/2 years ago. Today he is 11 and doing GREAT, and he has remained cancer free. My point…..Remember, through God all things are possible. Plus Ashley has her dad watching and helping her too…. Prayers continue to go out and up for you, and your family.

Thank you for letting us know. We all feel like a big extended family at LBB. She didn’t create a cool blog and awesome kids clothes, she kind of created a whole “Lil community” you know? I always get a kick out of it when I find a random blog and see the Sienna Dress pattern on a little girl…it’s like, “Another LBB girl!”, and usually I say something to the effect that we are all part of a family.
Anyway, tell Ashley her sisters are loving her up in our hearts right now and our Father is paving the way to a beautiful life for her…even more beautiful than it already was.

PS, have you guys considered a caringbridge website? That way you only have to manage one place of updates instead of FB, the blog and twitter, email and phone calls. When my sister had complications in her pregnancy and was bed rested for the majority of it, she was able to update us all through that one site. Also, it gives a place where you can “donate” to the cause in her name which would be an amazing way for us all to give back to her and your family.
Just a thought …. Oh, and you can have multiple people update it…Lisa, you, Ash…etc….

Hi Ashley , Our daughter went through a molar pregnancy last November . She too had a hysterectomy. She got through the chemo. She was a trooper with all she had to go through…so brave. I will pray for your recovery. God will heal you. You have so many friends to help you through this. Sue

I live by this verse. It is so close to my heart, and so is Ashley.. bad things often happen to good people, but the way I see it, is even though this is a bad thing, He had it happen to a STRONG woman. Bless you all for the fight ahead in her health. She is lucky in love and in faith. God will not have us endure something if He knows it can not be handled.. it’s a balance in life. I am a pharmacist that actually had what they thought was a molar pregnancy. For me luckily it wasn’t. I have been away from a computer till now and have been worried and wondering how you are doing. What can be said in this situation? Words seems so insignificant… Ash- as you know I had a miscarriage a couple months before you and as a Catholic I believe my baby, Daisy Therese is a saint in heaven. Catholics believe that saints are closer to God than us humans here on earth and therefore ask them to intercede for us. Just like I might ask my friends on earth to pray for you, I can ask my girl to pray for you too. I’ve asked Daisy Therese to pray for you and I know she is not alone up there in heaven thinking of you. 😉 Hugs to you and all your family and friends!!

oh my goodness…..you are one good hubs. i know first hand how hard emergent surgery can be on a hubs. we are praying for you guys in Orlando, FL. I’ve seen so many miracles myself while working at LLUMC and I believe her being there at the very moment the bleeding began is indeed a miracle.

It is crazy that we have never met or spoke, yet I feel like you are a close personal friend- and my heart is breaking for you right now! When I was in treatment for cancer, I always loved to hear the success stories. So I thought I would give you mine. Just about 2 years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and after a year of treatments, I’m doing great. I kept a blog through my chemo treatments and I thought Ashely might find comfort in reading through my similar experience. For reasons I won’t go into, I stopped with the end of chemo. I did wind up having radiation, but that was a walk in the park after chemo.

Thanks for the update. An un planned hysterectomy is a hard one! Is she gonna do the EMA-CO treatment? That is the one I had for this same cancer. I’d REALLY love to talk to her, when and if she’s up to it. I am hoping to be an encouragement as I am on the other side…and in remission!!

Oh my Goodness! I do not get to view all her wonderful ideas often, but glance when I have a chance, so I can take in her wonderful ideas for my own kids! I truly had no idea what she was facing and going through! What an amazing woman! What an amazing family she has been blessed with, in you and Lil’ Boo! I will keep her in my prayers-and you and Boo as well. Keep us posted. Chemo these days seems to be varied and better designed for each individual. Oh, Ashley and Brett! I’m SO incredibly sorry about the emergency hysterectomy. I know how badly you both wanted another baby. What a rollercoaster you’ve been on these last few months. I’m thankful they were able to identify the problem during surgery. Sending all of you strength and comfort during this very difficult time.

I’ve been reading your blog for over a year because I love your beautiful clothing and you just seem like a cool person :). I am so sad to hear about what you are going through. I have had my own experience with molar pregnancy and 3 months of chemotherapy, followed by a year of blood testing, so I can somewhat relate. Although it has been 10 years since it happened to me, when I read your post the memories and emotions came back like it was yesterday. Hi Ashley! First time TODAY on your blog, as I found you via “Better After” with your incredibly adorable leather painted shoes. Was very surprised to hear of your operation, and am grateful that your wonderful husband posted the latest news. Right now, it’s imperative for you to rest, pray and let others do for you even though I do realize (even after “meeting” you just today) it’s almost impossible for you to let others take care of you, you MUST in order to properly heal. This is God’s way of letting your heart expand while your body rests, and let others do, while you decrease, allow others to increase their servanthood unto God. When you’re well again, you’ll do the same for a recovering sister.

is it for sure choriocarcenoma (sp) then? And they do chemo in addition to removing those tumors already? Will you be able to update us? I know I mentioned it a few times but a caringbridge site would be perfect for you..you don’t have to FB/Tweet/Email/Phone and Blog information 1000 times, you just post your CB site. My friend went through Leukemia and she used the site. The donations to the cause just in her name were pretty huge, by using that CB page.

God hears our prayers of Faith, and from the first post I read where you announced what was going on in your body, I “heard” faith in your words.
