Stenciled $1 Coaster Sets (A Tutorial)

I used  Martha Stewart holiday stencils and metallic paints to make some easy holiday coasters. The coasters came as a set of 6 from the dollar store! The metallic paints make the coasters festive and sophisticated.

 

The holiday kits are great because they cover a range of holidays….not just one:

Here’s my $1 set of cork-backed coasters:

 

First I covered them with a primer (I used white gesso):

 

Then I painted 2 gold and 2 silver:

 

I had to do 2 coats of paint on each coaster:

 

 

I used stencil adhesive on the back of the stencil:

 

Then used a sponge applicator to apply a contrasting metallic paint (silver on gold and gold on silver):

I sprayed the coasters with a matte finish and they were finished! So easy!

    So do you come up with these ideas in your sleep? I think you do because there is not enough hours in the day for all the creative ideas you come up with and make them. You are just so clever and talented. Thanks for sharing.

    I love the new MS paints! I’ve gone NUTS with them … used them on my Box o Princesses and all! 🙂 These coasters are adorable!
