Well, I was supposed to be working on the last minute details for Boo’s birthday party today…..but Boo was still home sick….so I shifted gears and we worked on her playroom a little to entertain ourselves.
I finished the market awning in the last installment of Project Playroom. I thought I’d be done with the playroom by now but it’s taking me a bit longer to get my projects finished. I found this great old dairy scale on ebay for $20 and thought it would look so cute in the market:
I bought a $3.00 wrought iron garden bracket from Home Depot to hang the scale from:
Boo and I found these shelves at the thrift store this morning for $14.00 on the way to grab a burrito from El Pollo Loco:
With a little spray paint….the shelves match the awning!
Boo worked on organizing her veggies and fruits into bins (we found the bins at a local store called The Alley). The fruits and veggies are from Ikea.
We still have a lot more to add to make the market as realistic as possible! Looking for a cute wooden cash register is the next step…..along with some mini canvas shopping bags to hang from the scale.

I came across this today and thought of you!! And I think you’ve been making me crave doughnuts. Dreamt about them last night. Might just have to treat myself to one this weekend.
Love the playroom!
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayer!

I just bought all the food sets from Ikea a few weeks ago. And I seriously love The Alley. I pass the one in Palm Springs all the time to my parents house. Never get in as often as I would like, it is really difficult to be in there with the four kiddos.

Forgot to add, it is really looking fun. Love the scale.

Darling . . . I’m in love with the awning, and who wouldn’t want a head of lettuce with a ruffle.

our local children’s museum has a market, and they reinforce real food packaging with packing peanuts on the inside of boxes so they don’t crush as easily, and then clear tape on the outside so they don’t get torn up and ruined as easily – maybe her market could use some mini cereal boxes or cake mixes?

that is amazing! i love the shelves & storage bins

Hey Ashley! The store right at the end of my street has mini canvas bags that they give away when you buy wine…there’s a six-space divider in the middle that can easily be cut out. I actually cut the divider out of on yesterday to use as my husband’s lunch bag since his old one is basically trashed. They would be the perfect size for your “mini market” and I could definitely get you a bunch if you’d like…I know they’d be happy to give them to me.
If you’d like them, I’ll be happy to send them to you…just let me know how to send them to you! 🙂

My girls woulda loved that!

I love how cute it is and how it is turning out!! I need you to come to my house and do one when you are finished!

It is looking so good. Two things:
1) I am loving that scale and I want one like it SO bad.
2) Can I admit I am a little envious that you have an IKEA! I NEED…okay want…one of these SO bad.
Amber says
I used to have that exact same shelf! It belonged to my parents, and was from the Encyclopedia Brittanica people…designed to exactly fit the complete set of encyclopedias….TOTALLY kicking myself for getting rid of it now instead of making it over!
Krystal says
I LOVE the market!!! I’ve been looking at buying one for my soon to be 3 year old! But at over 100 dollars making one is FAR MORE economical!!!! And environmentally friendly! You’ve done a fabulous job!!!:) thanks for the inspiration!!!!!:):)

There’s a pill out there that works wonders for poop problems. Causes no cramping or discomfort, works overnight. It’s called Colon Clenz, take one pill in the evening. All natural ingredients. I purchased it at Walmart. Since it’s all herbal I would think it won’t interfere with anything else you are taking. Their website is http://www.godygoldinfo.com. Phone number is 877.263.9453. I sure hope this helps. xoxo jill wood

Love how your awning turned out! We love making old things new again too. Somehow it gives one a greater satisfaction than just buying something generic. The shelves look great too. Happy Birthday to Boo!!
