Today’s been a blur! I ran out of the house late this morning to the doctor and got my Nuelasta shot. All my chemo was fit into yesterday so I had the morning off. I got my bloodwork back and my HCG levels didn’t budge from last week…..not what we wanted but at least it didn’t increase! After my shot I then ran home to start preparations for Boo’s birthday!
I want Boo’s birthday to be so special for her since she’s had so much to deal with the last few months with my being sick! Last year I didn’t even throw her a party….I just asked a few of our friends over at the last minute….there wasn’t even a cake. Lame. My first task of the day was hanging shades to block out the sun so the little ones don’t get sunburned. The sun shines right onto our patio mid morning. This required climbing up a ladder backwards through a nest of bees. Lisa had a horrified look on her face as I climbed onto the roof…..I like being up there…..you can see what the neighbors are up to haha. Ok….it was a little dangerous getting up there….I felt like Sean Connery in The Rock when he had to get under that furnace….timing it just right to get around the swarm of bees on the flower vines. I. don’t. like. bees.
I was so pumped full of steroids yesterday that I had a ton of energy today. Thank you God! I did all the grocery shopping at Costco…..so thankful for samples….I was famished and barely made it through without starving to death. When I got back Lisa had already decorated most of the house! My friend Jenn came over and prepared most of the food. I spray painted donuts all over the yard. I can’t wait to show you the details soon of her Krispy Kreme doughnut shop party! Then I’ll crash on Sunday and sleep for a day. I feel like I have more to say but I can’t keep my eyes open any longer! Have a wonderful Friday night!
XOXO,
Ash
P.S. I probably won’t end up sleeping a wink tonight! I’m too excited!
P.P.S. Lisa filmed my roof escapes and posted it on Facebook….you can view it here.

Ashley – I just discovered your blog a few days ago and after catching up on a few of your posts (including the one about chemo, poo and dying), I had to leave a comment…just to say that I really love your sense of humor and your attitude toward fighting your cancer. I cannot even fathom what you’re going through.
I am a nurse, so you’ll NEVER gross me out. I appreciate your bravery and forthrightness about what you’re going through. You are probably a great inspiration to others who are facing similar challenges.
I actually have a friend who just started her first round of chemo for breast cancer…going to share your blog with her. She also has a great attitude…she wore 5 inch heels to her chemo session the other day! Haha…she said there were a bunch of older folks there, too, but she was rocking the joint with those sexy shoes…I bet it was the highlight of their day.
I wish you all the best,
Your newest fan,
Julie

Gotta love that steroid sometimes. There have been times when I’ve been in such bad shape I can’t walk but then presto! 3 or 5 days of 1,000mg IV treatments and I’m practically running around. Down fall to steroid….can.not.sleep. I’ve spent many a night staring at the back of the couch. The other thing that it does to me is after about the 4th day I feel like I’ve been beat with a billy club all over my body. Not to where I can’t function but I’m just super sore. I hope you don’t get this. My doctors thought it was strange. I think the steroid was probably a good thing with all you’ve been through to give you the energy to put the party together. Good luck with Boo’s KK doughnut party! My little Julia’s 7th birthday is also this weekend. Fun times! By the way, we’ve purchased a couple of your dresses (the Frida Kowlo and the Valentine’s nesting doll and leggings) and they are wonderful. Such high quality fabric and so unique. Julia’s getting so many compliments. 🙂
Jen K says
You really are amazing! Boo is so blessed to have you as her momma!
Sydney says
Also, I’m sure they are but just in case….have they given you something for your stomach? The steroid really does a number on it. Just a concern.

By the way, when I first read this, I thought it read, “Just POOPing in real quick…”, and my initial response was one of happy relief for you….I hope everything is good in the one eye department as well…tee hee…hope nobody is disgusted by this comment!

Hi, I’ve read your blog for a while, but not in a while and was surprised to see your cancer news. I cried a little last night reading all of the cancer chronicle posts b/c it turns out I forgot to take my zoloft to control my horrible OCD and my period started today. So that explained that. However, that didn’t take away how moved I was by the whole thing and what an amazing attitude you have. I didn’t know if you had seen a blog called “Wunderglo.” I found it through a Duke basketball website (ha! and go ACC). I thought you might find it interesting, or you just might think I’m crazy. I promise I don’t spend all my time trolling blogs for young people with cancer, although my old untreated OCD self would enjoy that. At any rate, I will pray for you that you kick cancer’s ass. Her blog is http://www.wunderglo.com

O P.S.
I wish I was there, I would have totally taken on the bees for you. I love bees! I know it’s weird but they do not freak me out at all. Wasps don’t either, I think I like the thrill of doing what I need to get done around them without getting stung 🙂
Candi says
You do have more energy than me. I hope it was a wonderful day for boo. I also pray that you have an amazing recovery. I heard recently that our test becomes our testimony. You will probably help a lot of people with your story.
