Photobomb – An otherwise normal photo that has been ruined or spoiled by someone who was not supposed to be in the photograph.
I photobombed Lisa this morning. She was trying to take a new profile picture for Facebook. She ended up using the photo anyways.
Turns out there is an entire world of photobombing I never knew about. Here are a few sites:
This is Photobomb
Photobomb
Celebrity Photobombs
And now….I’m going to “LICEBOMB” this post…….
True story from this morning:
If you want to be seen quickly in an overcrowded office use the following tactic:
1. Pretend to get a phone call.
2. Repeat the following loudly into the phone: Whaaaaat?! You think she has lice?
3. Hang up phone.
4. Start scratching head uncontrollably.
You’ll be ushered to the front of the line and no one will object.
Bet you feel itchy now too, right?
It worked at the doctor’s office today. Although it wasn’t a pretend conversation. I was there for my weekly blood draw and it was super busy. I ended up getting out of there quicker than any other patient. Good news….it turns out Boo does NOT have lice…..but she does have a bad case of dry scalp. The school had me take her to the doctor’s office to get a note though just to be sure:
In case Boo ever DOES get lice the nurse gave me a natural remedy:
3 tablespoons baby shampoo
3 tablespoons of olive oil
1 teaspoon of tea tree oil
1 teaspoon of eucalyptus oil
Leave on the hair for 1/2 hour.
I’ll cross my fingers for now.
P.S. I managed to create a post about photobombing, today’s doctor visit AND a natural lice remedy. All-in-one. Can I get a high five?
Cyndi says
And…now my head itches. LOL
Becky says
lol. great photobomb…
thanks for natural lice remedy..will keep it handy (although hope never to use!)
big hugs
Sherry McCarron says
This cracked me up! BTW our school system had a HORRIBLE epidemic of head lice this year, my kids got it over and over and over…best remedy ever is tea tree oil. you can mix it in a spray bottle with water (just a few drops for about a cup of water) and spray it on their head before they leave for school and the lice won’t jump onto their heads. Figured that out after almost 6 months of lice going around, and about $500 worth of lice treatments! So frustrating! So glad for you that she doesn’t have it!
Simone says
look up cetaphil treatment if your kids ever get them again! Our school had it bad in my kids early primary years and I used to just cetaphil their hair on Friday nights, just in case! Fun stuff!
Laurie says
Really excellent multi-tasking. I’m in awe. Also glad there are no lice!
Jos says
Avoidance tip – spray Boo’s hair each morning with hairspray. Those little suckers won’t be able to hang on if they jump over! Hand on heart truth. And yep – I’m itching while writing this – nothing like the l word to get me scratching!!!!!
Crystal Sanders Thompson says
haha great post! Thanks for the lice remedy recipe! I’ll have to keep that handy just in case!
Julie says
As a child my mother would rinse our hair with plain vinegar on Sunday night before school. Once it dried, the smell is gone but some how it deters lice. I have never yet had lice; I’m 43. My children never had lice using this technique also. Good luck.
Michelle Lubbers says
I was reading this post all proud. I really believed I could get through it without scratching. I won’t scratch my head, that’s silly, no power of suggestion will get to ME. Until the very end of the post and I couldn’t help myself. Ha. Memories from my childhood, I was the one who always caught the lice. Thanks for the natural remedy, I have only boys for now, but you just never know!
Indywriter says
My oldest has had head lice 3 times. I managed to never get it until her first case. It was horrifying to me to know that I had bugs in my hair. I honestly believe that I have at least mild PTSD from this. The mere mention of lice means that I will spend at least an hour ASAP using the lice comb in my hair followed by random spot checks of my kids’ heads. I already itch just reading this.
I’m off to comb my hair…
Ashley says
I think I have PTSD from just thinking she did. I’m so OCD….the worst part for me would be having to clean absolutely everything. I’d want to hire a specialized team to do it for me just to make sure it was done right!
Debbie B says
I would have to hire a company the steam cleans everything.
Jennifer says
I believe that I did have PTSD from our case. I didn’t stop for 5 days…washed everything in site 5 times, and didn’t sleep….which resulted in me getting Scarlet Fever. It was the worst 2 weeks of my life. BTW…I purchased a special comb online and it was the best thing. Helped me feel like we were actually making progress. Everyone should have one in their house, just like a fire extinguisher. I’ve often though that there should be some organization that counsels people through a lice event! lol. I just might have to start one! 🙂
Bev says
thanks for the remedy! My 8 yo had it and the doctor told us to put full strength mayo on the hair and put under shower cap for 4 hours {yes, 4 hours}. Poor kid smelled like egg salad, but it worked!
Karen says
Virtual high-five! You rock!
TereJo says
Thanks for the natural lice remedy, although I hope to NEVER use it!
Great photobomb, by the way!
Jamie says
Neem oil works great for lice. It smells awful, but works like a charm. It’s also great as a preventative. It dissolves their outer shell and kills the eggs. Yuck! Now I’ve grossed myself out!
Francie says
Mayo is also great for lice. Col
Francie says
Completly cover head with mayo, wrap with Saran wrap and leave on as long as you can. Rinse mayo out and comb out dead bugs and eggs. Do not wash hair for 24 hours!!!!!! ✋ high five for the awesome post!!!
Robin says
ugh lice- my younger daughter got it in K and she has the same color hair as Boo. Super hard to see the nits in blond hair. If you do get unlucky enough to get lice (and I hope you never get it!) I used Cetaphil. Loved it because it is pretty non-toxic (other than some SLS) and it kills the lice by suffocating them!
Here is a link for the protocol in case anyone needs it. http://www.nuvoforheadlice.com/
Loved your photobomb of Lisa 😉
Danika @ Your Organic Life says
Sadly, Cetaphil isn’t non-toxic. Check out this article. It’s pretty bad.
GayleB says
At school where I worked, we all used tons of hair spray on our hair especially around the neck and ear area. We used to laugh that we all had “heads of iron”.
Heather says
Yep, I heard hair spray, blow drying, and using tea tree oil shampoo all help repel them. I got them when my daughter did, it was crazy-making to *feel* them crawling on my head in the middle of the night! Gross!! My daughter was totally infested; we tried the commercial remedies, and smothering with Listerine and olive oil, the nit combs…it went on and on and on. The only thing that really worked for us was spending every spare hour I had making like a chimp and picking through her hair while she watched TV. It was a hobby of mine for a few weeks!
Sugar says
I know, I have tried everything but all that really works is doing it by hand. Even the specially made lice combs don’t seem to get a good grip on the nits. :/
Tracie says
Just put a few drops of tea tree oil in your shampoo and she’ll NEVER get it
Candace says
True! Best repellent ever
Erin says
HaHA my 4 year old photo bombed his little brothers sick picture today… LMBO!
Tami C says
These photo-bombing sites are hilarious! Thanks for making me smile on this crazy Monday.
Michele LIttlefield says
The photo bomb made me LOL. I’m so happy Boo doesn’t have lice. Ugh, with her long hair that would be an nightmare. When my kids were in school & the lice outbreaks would start I never worried because my kids are bi racial & always had product in their hair. SCORE!
Southern Gal says
You’re good, girl. High five!
Pamela J. Bates says
two thumbs up on the multitasking post!~~~
LOL on the photobombing. who knew there was a name for what my bil has been doing for the last 20+ years. honestly when you least expect it and when you look a little closer at a picture you love, there is al, in the background. sometimes it’s intetional, but i think most often it’s not which makes it even funnier.
Ann says
There is nothing “natural” about Johnson’s baby shampoo – I have heard recently that “no-tear” formulas really don’t contain anything less than most other shampoos, but they are “no-tear” because of formaldehyde in the formula – it numbs the eyes. Don’t know about anyone else, but it’s not something I’m using on my kid.
I would think a better “natural” head lice formula could be made with something gentler from the health-food store – with NO FORMALDEHYDE!!
Ashley says
Good point Ann…..I’m pretty sure it would work with any shampoo. We don’t use JJ here either.
Tleshia Farrar says
high five
Kati says
Totally itching now!!!! Ahhhh!!!!
Jenn E. says
High 5 :). 5yo just brought a note home saying there has been a case of lice in the class so thanks for the natural remedy :). Will try tonight :).
Kristina says
We fought those buggers last month. The outbreak in our area is HUGE!. But unfortunately so many parents buy Rid and Nix and apply it once and think they are done so… the problem persists. We used Olive Oil to suffocate (worked great!) and washed out with white vinegar. Which loosened the nits really well. After painstakingly going through her hair with the the http://www.amazon.com/Terminator-Professional-Stainless-Treatment-Removes/dp/B000HIBPV8. NO BUGS!!! I wash her hair with some natural hair shampoo and then spike her organic coconut (lice HATE coconut) with tea tree oil and anise oil. NO more bugs. I spray her hair like suggested above and whle everyone else keeps on getting them we have been completely buggy free!
Kristina says
Forgot to add this: Make sure to have one of these on hand too.

the tea tree oil added to bottle of shampoo is a good preventive when the little critters are starting to cause trouble in one’s community
kathja schoenfeld says
i wish i would have known this for many years… maybe i can give it to my unborn granchilds in future..;-). thank you… i wil keep the recipy… 🙂
Paul says
Someone once told my neighbor to smother the head in Peanut Butter and leave it for an hour. It would suffocate the lice…
Of course it took 3 hours and 7 or 8 hair washings to wash out the PB… I like your recipe better!
High Five…
Liz Epps says
Total High five, and my head is itching early this am. LOL Thank GOD for having boys and short short hair they will never survivie lol
Nydia says
Have you heard of fairy tales… its an all natural organic hair product…The rosemary repel leave in conditioner is what I put in my daughter hair ever day… its been shown to repel lice and other buggies… I sound like an infomercial… LOL… Anyhow I found it because we have had a crazy lice epidemic this year in our school… but not my kid 🙂
Melissa says
Hands down, most hilarious post ever. Thanks for the home remedy recipe!
Carmen says
Loved your post…my kids are always randomly photobombing each other, they make the best pictures. as for the lice…ugh. I started working at an elemenatry school and OMG, the lice outbreaks here are unreal. I got the bugs; passed it onto my 8 yr old girl and it was a nightmare! Nothing worked, until I found Clearlice. It kills the lice and nits by breaking up their exoskeloton so they never build up a resistance to the product. Our Lice problem was solved. Itchys are gone and so are the lice and nits. I agree with a poster above, nit pick, nit pick, nit pick more so than cleaning your home. Love your blog and your positive attitude…you are an inspiration to me. God Bless You greatly.
Michele C. says
1) my head is now itchy, thank you very much.
2) I’m glad it’s not lice for Boo.
3) I’m glad you got out of the doctor’s office fast.
4) Impressive combination of topics in one post. Impressive.
Kori says
I take a spray bottle with water and put drops of tea tree oil in and and spray my kids a few sprays everyday before school 🙂 – It has become a daily routine LOL even Dh sprays them 🙂
Tammy says
The photo bombing is so funny! I saw on the Ellen show one time that Harry Connick Jr. “creeps” in photos. SO funny! You should google it, I wish I could pull those off!
Joanne Archer says
The only way to be rid of them is to do a weekly comb through after a hair wash.
However, I also used to make up a solution of teatree oil and water in a spray bottle and just spritz on a fine mist in the morning, before school.
Candace says
Tea Tree Oil is good for your hair and scalp too! It really repels any little buggars!
vicki m says
fivers 🙂
Sydney says
Thanks I needed a good laugh. My mom and best friend passed away suddenly last Monday and I’ve been having a tough time. I hope she avoids the lice with that long curly hair. That would be tough to deal with!
Lisa says
High five! I’m bookmarking this natural remedy for later!
Heidi @ Buttons and Butterflies says
The most important thing is the COMB!! If you don’t get rid of the nits, they will be back. This from a mom AND as a school nurse. I had to pick nits out of all three of the boys heads two summers ago…..twice.
You can use all the remedies in the world, but if the eggs are still hanging around…you are doomed! We have a local lice clinic that is run by RNs that will do it all for you for a nominal fee!
Heidi @ Buttons and Butterflies says
And I forgot to say…lice likes CLEAN hair best ;)!
Angela says
Actually if you wash her hair once a week with that recipe, she won’t get lice.
Susie says
High five!
Camila says
Life is really good!
xoxo from Brasil
Elizabeth says
Put tea tree on her neck when she goes to school. It will keep critters at bay.
Ashley says
Thanks! I’ve been spraying her with it! I had to explain why she smelled so strongly of antiseptic at school 😉
Kelly says
You do get a high five…..I love all your blogs!!!!
Laura says
And what is a natural remedy for very dry scalp?!?!? I have it too! (and yes, I do too!)
