Me: It’s kind of sad, but if I had died last October, think about all the random crap of mine you would have had to get rid of.
Mr. LBB: I probably would have just sold the house.
Me: You’d still have to move all the stuff. Unless you just abandoned it…..like Pompeii.Β Then people would come and photograph our abandoned house.
Mr. LBB: Yep.
Me: If anything happened to you, you know what would happen? I’d be like: Anyone want this ONE drawer?
It’s true. Mr. LBB keeps nothing material. He has one little area in the house where he keeps his things…..a few hats, a phone charger, sunglasses, a drawer with some odds and ends:
He only uses 2 of his bathroom vanity drawers….I’ve generously filled the other 4 for him (and we each have our own vanity….so that means I have a total of TEN drawers).
I think he used to have way more stuff…..but I gave it all to goodwill. I didn’t want anyone to think we were hoarders.*
*Hoarding might be genetic. I helped my mother organize 4,000 cassette tapes last summer…..all copied from CDs. (We didn’t organize the CDs…it’s common knowledge that if you copy them onto cassette tapes, the CDs become obsolete.)
Note: For anyone keeping count, I just realized all my recent posts have been depressing…..dead dinosaurs, girls dying at Pompeii and their lack of carpets, it taking 4.9 years for my hair to grow back, my fear of cars, and creepy babies……so don’t forget the corn on the cob post and national doughnut day…..it evens out π Oh, and I met The Gambler.

There is so much awesome in this post! I love the visual of your abandoned house, like Pompeii and the obsolete CD’s once they are transferred to cassette! Too funny!

It is nice to know that I am not the only one who has completely taken over the marital space. I think my husband has some comic books somewhere. . . maybe.

oh my goodness, i was laughing out loud and your description of hubby’s stash and your throwing everything else of his away so no one would think you were hoarders! that is so me! and copying the CDs to cassettes… priceless!

lol This sounds like a back and forth between me and my dh. Neither one of us are pack rats tho. I’m quite sure if I was a crafting/creative genius like you I would have way more stuff.

I get anxiety thinking about letting anyone move into my house because I would have to give up closet or drawer space. Lol. I have an abundance of closet space and it is all full of my stuff. Somebody call the hoarders show for me…please. π

Random stupid questionβ¦ where did you get the cafe tin?? I’ve been looking all over for something like that and I can’t find it π

I told my husband once that we wouldn’t have all this stuff (my crap) if he wouldn’t have asked me to marry him. I told him if we move again (we rent) that I am just divorcing him so that I don’t have to pack all the $##+ again. Haha. I believe guys must be wired differently because Sean has hardly anything and I have to have everything. I totally don’t understand it. I grew up with whatever I wanted pretty much wanted and he grew up in foster care ( so basically nothing). I joke because the house has my stuff but his shop is filled to the gills with all kinds of goodies, so why would he need anything at home ;). Hope y’all are having a fabulous Thursday!!!

The opposite is true in our house! Just for clothes, Hubby has his closet, half of my closet, over half, and two large bureaus. I have half of my closet, the other the rest of the shelving (which isn’t much) and two very small drawers in one of Hubby’s bureaus. Pretty much every room in our house follows that pattern!

I hoard as well…its mostly craft related stuff…and clothes. But not because I actually like clothes; rather I keep thinking I’ll repurpose them into something. And then I remember my grams house…rooms stuffed full of boxes of fabric and odds and ends. I think I came by it quite honestly. π
Laura says
You must tell Mr LBB that his hoarding has just gotten way out of hand π
Annie says
Ok but is that *really* all of his stuff? My DH has about the same amount inside the house, but in the garage… tools, sporting equipment, skis, outdoor gear. Compared by volume, it blows my crafting stash out of the water.

Ok. So this is going to sound strange, but…You were funny BEFORE cancer, but you are FUNNNNNYYY now! I have cracked up so much at your last several posts. It’s like the filter is OFF!
And what is it with kids being obsessed with morbid things??
And, your mom and her tapes….you really could have a Seinfeld like sitcom on your hands if you wrote a screenplay! π

You are so nutty! lol
I guess that’s why I enjoy your blog!

I used to be a huge hoarder. Then I started looking into the lifestyle of minimalists and wanted that free feeling so bad! I’m still no where near being a minimalist but I unloaded SO much stuff and now my house and mind feel fantastic.

My dad would probably like it if I transferred all his CDs to 8-track, but sadly, I don’t have the technology. You crack me up!

I personally think that the 4+ yrs of hair growth bring about awesome opportunities for change & new hair styles! … aside from that, all is similar to me… Dave has hair gel & deodorant on the vanity, & shares the Q-tips in the drawer. simple men make for more room for us.
