Sometimes I like to put little projects into my journals that I can finish over time…..like taking a set of crayons or paints and making a little palette of all the colors:
Then, when I don’t necessarily feel like writing anything, I’ll ponder it like a puzzle and try to make up names for the colors: currant wine, rusty pipe, jade in the sunlight, buttered popcorn, etc.
Make a palette or two in your journal. You don’t have to use paints and crayons…..use a few highlighters and different kinds of pens…..those can be interesting colors too: slate, radioactive yellow, fountain pen black etc. Fill in a few of the color names today and leave the rest for another day.
Great job so far!

I love this project. Yesterday I was playing around with the map of my neighborhood page and it bought back so many memories. 🙂 it’s so relaxing to sit down and journal!

I used to do this very thing with my box of 64 Crayolas when I was about 9 – the age my daughter is now!! (I found one awhile back and it was like a nostalgic time warp.) This makes me want to do it again – thank you for the inspiration!!

I love this one! <3 This gives me the idea that I need crayons in a mason jar on my desk…. I have several mason jars filled with inspiring things, and bright colorful crayons would be perfect!
Happy Wednesday!

I have those same watercolors. 🙂 I do this all the time on scraps of paper and then they end up getting slapped down as an element of a page. I’ve never named the colors though. Love that!

Thanks so much for doing this Journal project! I have never in my life started an “art” journal – yet I have always wanted to, but didn’t know how. I have been loosing myself in my pages lately! Thanks for all of the thought you have put & will continue to put into it. I have truly enjoyed it!

I have been traveling and am having to “catch up”! I have always done prayer journals, Bible study journals, travel journals – but never an art journal and it has been quite fun! This assignment reminded me of a Tom Bodett (Motel 6 – we’ll leave the light on for you guy!) story in which he and his wife were wanting to paint their nursery before baby arrived and with so much angst from sooooo many choices, they finally decided on painting it white! But..did they want navajo white, bisque, antique white, blanched almond….! Made me smile to remember!

What kind of book are you journaling in?

I’m starting this 7 months late but I am so enjoying this journal project. It’s difficult not to jump ahead and peak at other days entries. I love that the projects are so unique. Thank you!
