I have several types of journals I like to work in and one of them is my tiny moleskin journal:
I love using color pastels on the pages:
But they can be a little messy but a fixative “fixes” your images to the page but keeps them workable:
Fixative also keeps charcoal from smudging:
Just a light spray of the fixative is all you need:
I love using little stencils:
And tracing the letters with a pen:
A favorite quote:
I love making little stamps to use on pages…..I just make the first thing that comes to mind. I start with inexpensive foam sheets:
Use a ball point pen to sketch indentations:
Press the stamp onto an ink pad and then press onto the page. I use the end of my pen to press down the edges of the stamp so my fingers don’t get too inked:
A finished stamp:
To make it a little more permanent (and if you use adhesive foam) you can stick them to the bottom of an old puzzle piece for an instant stamp. (click them image below for the full tutorial)
A few more:
Add in some clouds and a few sketches….maybe even a quote:

I was thinking about drawing some cute whimsical houses in my journal today and looks like you were too! Thank you for the great tutorial.

Yes I agree with you. I can assure you that if I am posting about something that is sponsored or reviewed it will be listed at the bottom of the post. I do link to the products I use as an amazon affiliate because I get dozens of emails a day asking where to buy supplies if I don’t….but all items I link to on Amazon I have purchased myself and have used at my own discretion and will. I never post or link to anything that I would not purchase, use or recommend for myself, friends or family. Unfortunately, Lil Blue Boo has high expenses in order to keep a server running full time and have support on call 24/7 and those have to be covered in some way. Thanks for the feedback. Make sure to use a real email address next time and you will get my reply!

Love the little house stamps! Thanks for sharing.
By the way, I’ve heard people using hair spray instead of a fixative for the “fixing” of charcoal drawings. Did you ever try?
