Popsicle Stick Tombstones and Cemetery

These popsicle stick tombstones and cemetery are part of a larger Halloween project I’m working on. (I shared the miniature pumpkins yesterday, also part of the same project.)

These were really fun to make and Boo got a big kick out of the funny sayings on them. It’s the perfect way to add a spooky element to a fairy village!

I love any project that can just be made from popsicle sticks because you can purchase them in large bundles and pretty much have an endless supply. The little wood picket fence I got from Michaels too:

I used wire cutters to cut the popsicle sticks into different lengths. For each tombstone you’ll need two pieces: a base and vertical monument piece. I used the curve of the popsicle sticks for an instant classic tombstone shape and cut the corners off of some of the rectangular pieces for another shape:

Before gluing the pieces together I used a small screwdriver to etch the base for better adhesion:

A small dab of hot glue will hold the top:

I like the variation of these and added a cross shape as well:

I spray painted the tombstones a glossy gray color:

Once they were dry I used a small paint brush (you can cut out the fibers of a larger one to make your own). I also used white acrylic craft paint. It helps to add water to your acrylic paint and mix well before attempting to draw anything. It applies easier with it’s more of a liquid, but you might just have to do more than one coat:

For the cemetery fence and entry sign I spray painted the pre-made fence black and attached popsicle sticks to the entrance:

It could also be a festive Halloween addition for a dollhouse or tablescape:

I just love anything miniature:

Not too creepy either!
