It was a morning full of doctor visits….three to be exact. A self portrait with my go-go-gadget arm:
After chemo first thing I had a visit with my regular doctor. Everyone treated me like I had ebola…..and sat accordingly. I might wear a mask for the rest of my life….everywhere I go….if I can get THAT much personal space:
My sister sent me this shirt to wear……it’s her “sisterhood of the traveling shirt” t-shirt…..like the movie, her and her friends have passed it back and forth since 2006 and written milestones on it. I get to write on it now and send it back:
Since I get intramuscular injections….it takes longer for the chemo to absorb into the bloodstream so I usually have a few hours before I start to feel it. It’s like a race for me……fit in whatever I can right afterwards. Today I stopped at the thrift store on my way home to see what furniture they had in:
Once I got home I was able to do a little bit of work sorting out some fabric scraps before I started feeling crummy…..then I had to lay down until tonight. I’ve got to take a few days off now before I can work on my new project of moving into the new office area. I’ve got big plans for it: pretty repainted furniture, a chandelier, larger desk areas for Lisa and I and a project table. The old office will become a writing nook for me and playroom combo for Boo…..it seems like a ton of work right now but it will get done eventually.
My HCG levels are moving in the right direction….just too slow….so somethings up…..the MRI scans this week will tell us more.

I know what you mean wearing the mask, I had to wear one for about a week. I had a blood vessel burst in the very back of my nose ( it was so bad I had to have my stomach pumped as it was full of blood ~ yuck !! )
I had the mask on and noone would get near me in the waiting room !!
Im glad you are doing better, you are very inspiring. I choose Joy thanx to you and your strentgh.

Hi Ashley, have you tried some alternative cancer treatments? There are o lot of information on internet about Cesium Chloride Protocol. Also I found an interesting article about the Budwig diet protocol. You can google it if you are interested. I know it is hard to convince people to try something different rather then chemo and radiation. But it is possible and people don’t have to die of cancer because God is amazing and he created everything that we need to heal our bodies. If you would like to discuss it further please send me an email. All the best!!! Arina

OH how I remember THOSE dayz…..So many people are either afraid to ask, or to ignorant to want to educate themselves by asking a simple question of why. My son and I were at ToysRUs after his Chemo one day. A grandmother with her young granddaughter who was maybe 5 (adorable and healthy as she could possible be), announces as loud as the voice God gave her to the young girl, “I don’t know honey why he is wearing that thing.” Ignorance I say. Now people want to know why my 11 year old has a mohawk 12 months out of the year. My response is simple, “Radiation enhancement”. Which my son thinks is to funny. Oh well, keep your head up and your mask ON. Good Luck and prayers for you.

I had a partial molar pregnancy this summer, I went through two rounds of chemo. Luckily that’s all I needed. Stay strong! Thanks for sharing your story, it’s hard going through something so rare. There aren’t a lot of people to talk to that have gone through the same thing. Here’s my story, I shared on our family blog:

I just came across your website, and I love the name – Choose Joy. For years I have been repeating that same phrase to myself in hard situations. (Death of my parents, divorce, etc) This summer I added the phrase God is good, all the time. My almost 30 year old son entered the emergency room in July with what we thought was an asthma attack and then spent the next 20 days on a vent., close to death for many of those first days. He eventually was taken off and seemed to be getting better even though he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. 4 days after being discharged from the hospital and 3 days before his 30th birthday, he went to sleep and woke in heaven. I miss him dearly, but every day I know I must choose joy, and to believe that God is good, all the time.
God Bless you in your journey, I will keep you in my prayers and add you to my list of blogs to follow.
Merry Christmas –
Bev

How did the conversation with your primary physician go? Was she taken aback that you had “forgotten” to tell her about your surgeries and diagnosis?
Y. says
You need to come up with a line a custom masks! Seriously! You can totally bling them up. Weird that in Asian countries it’s quite normal to see people out in surgical masks but, here, everyone looks at you like YOU’RE the one that has some infectious disease!
Heidi says
You’re the best…..seriously! Love the doodles!!!
I might borrow the mask idea one day to be left alone!
