I made these awesome glitter shoes for Boo today using Extreme Glitter. The result was a rich, patent-leather-like, glittery pair of shoes!
An easy, inexpensive project you can do in almost any glittery shade…for any age!
I started with a pair of canvas shoes (these were from Target, but Walmart or Payless are other good places to find an inexpensive pair of shoes).
And I used Plaid’s Extreme Glitter paint in Rose (click here for the color palette available):
I applied a thick coat to all the exposed areas of the shoe:
I used a smaller brush to get the paint right up to the edges of the rubber and metal parts:
I applied a second coat after the first coat was dry and even applied a third and fourth coat in places:
They dried really quick! Stay tuned for my pair….I’m looking for my old, dull flats to spruce up!

Love this idea!!! I have a 6 year old who really likes the twinkle toes shoes that are out right now..but I do not like the price. She will love the idea of making her own cool shoes!

bought the brown and pink shoes like yours at Target for $2….my daughter hated them. So I bought the Extreme Glitter in Hologram…thought it would be platnium, but it kind of green. We painted our first coat and she loves them now! Thanks!

Seventeen years ago my daughter wanted to be Dorothy for Halloween; she was four. Back then they didn't have "Dorothy" shoes available in the stores, so I came up with the idea of painting white Keds with glittery red fabric paint. They were wonderful, and my daughter loved them. I am thrilled. I had to make 4 pairs of bridesmaid flip flops and a bridal pair for my upcoming wedding. I was going through all the ways I could spruce up $3 flip flips. Ribbon, flowers…they all seemed boring or tacky. This glitter paint is perfect and it even comes in one of my wedding colors, Peridot. After 3 or 4 coats the color is an EXACT match to the ladys' dresses.
Even though it is painted on cheap rubber straps, the paint is really hard to chip off. I believe the texture on the rubber helps secure it. These will definitely last through the reception and several wears after the wedding.
I wish the paint came in ivory for my bridal shoes. I might experiment with mixing gold and silver to see what kind of effect it gives.
