Looking for some fun summer projects? How about an easy rainbow heart wall hanging made from Crayola Model Magic! We had so much fun making these easy shapes using the wide variety of colors that Crayola has to offer:
I have to share with you that I had a chance to use Michaels new buy online feature. I placed my order for various colors of Crayola Model Magic, a wide variety of beads, and other supplies I would need for my project. It was all ready for me to pick up when I arrived at the store! Of course I couldn”t help myself and walked around for another hour but it was nice konwing that all the things I had on my purchase list were already taken care of so I just had a chance to browse for a while.
Here are the supplies I ordered for our wallhanging project in case you want to order online just like I did:
Crayola Model Magic Variety Pack
Crayola Model Magic Craft Pack
Crayola Model Magic – Raspberry
The simple heart shapes were so easy to make and we let them air dry for a day and then sprayed them with a clear coating:
We used rainbow hemp twine (my favorite kind ever) to attach each heart to a piece of old wood:
Rainbow hemp twine…so many great uses:
Fun rainbow wall decor:
I think they look great hanging outside too:
I made a “wind chime” inspired version too using an embroidery hoop to hold the strands:
The only thing I changed for this version was to add beads on top of the hearts:
I used a few sets of wood beads, plastic beads and glass beads organized by color:
I think we had the most fun with this version sorting through all the colors of beads!

Love the projects! Did you free-hand the hearts or use some sort of mold? I think i might try this, mixing buttons with a few beads.

I love this and my girls are making it for their grandpa with fish. How long does it take the clay to “harden” and can you increase the toughness of it with polyurethane. It’s got to travel to Europe. Thank you.

The model magic is SO fun to work with! I just used it for clay slime and now I’m trying to figure out what else I can do with it. This is a great idea!
