Yo. Check out my hair length! My last day of chemotherapy was March 29th…..so this is almost 8 weeks of hair growth. My hair is still pretty thin but at least you can’t see my scalp as much anymore….with the hot desert sun I need the cover.
Remember when my hair looked like this? At the time I was looking for any way to speed up my morning routine……I guess I got what I asked for!
Photobomb – An otherwise normal photo that has been ruined or spoiled by someone who was not supposed to be in the photograph.
I photobombed Lisa this morning. She was trying to take a new profile picture for Facebook. She ended up using the photo anyways.

True story from this morning:
If you want to be seen quickly in an overcrowded office use the following tactic:
1. Pretend to get a phone call.
2. Repeat the following loudly into the phone: Whaaaaat?! You think she has lice?
3. Hang up phone.
4. Start scratching head uncontrollably.
You’ll be ushered to the front of the line and no one will object.
Bet you feel itchy now too, right?
It worked at the doctor’s office today. Although it wasn’t a pretend conversation. I was there for my weekly blood draw and it was super busy. I ended up getting out of there quicker than any other patient. Good news….it turns out Boo does NOT have lice…..but she does have a bad case of dry scalp. The school had me take her to the doctor’s office to get a note though just to be sure:
In case Boo ever DOES get lice the nurse gave me a natural remedy:
3 tablespoons baby shampoo
3 tablespoons of olive oil
1 teaspoon of tea tree oil
1 teaspoon of eucalyptus oil
Leave on the hair for 1/2 hour.
I’ll cross my fingers for now.
P.S. I managed to create a post about photobombing, today’s doctor visit AND a natural lice remedy. All-in-one. Can I get a high five?
I was sitting in the doctor’s office yesterday and I saw a patient that was a regular in chemo with me for months. I’d say he’s about my age….but I know he’s probably much younger than I am. He told me that his tumors were coming back and he had to start chemo again next week. It made me nauseous. I hope he’ll only have to do one more round. I’d been having some pain in my pelvis so I began to think that maybe my pelvic tumor was coming back too….that’s how I knew the last time it grew. The nurse said that my hemoglobin and red blood cells were low…… I have no idea what that means, but it made me want to forget that I had any results coming back today. But then…..GUESS WHAT…..my HCG (my tumor markers) is the lowest it’s been yet:
It’s been hovering at 2 for so long…..and it finally dropped this week. My mom was here for 10 days….it must have been all the praying she did 🙂
It’s crazy to be focused on a number. When my HCG was at 280,000 I didn’t think much of it, when it was at 4,000 I didn’t really think about it, when it got down to 70 it didn’t phase me much…I was more focused on getting through treatment. It’s a different feeling now that it’s almost at zero. Every little movement up or down seems so much more significant. I think at 1 my tumors are looking dead….how convenient that I already had this picture drawn!
I was at Barnes and Noble catching up on some writing when I got the text with the results. I wanted to share the news with someone, anyone, but everyone was engrossed in their own conversation or reading. So instead I left a message to the next person who might sit down at my table as I left:
