Fabric Shopping in L.A.

Lisa and I spent all day yesterday shopping in L.A.’s garment district. We had a great time despite the 100 degree heat! Our first stop was Michael Levine’s Loft:


The Loft is located above the Micheal Levine home decor fabric store:

And it is indeed a loft…..no air conditioning and VERY hot when it is 100 degrees outside!

But it is my favorite kind of store….lots of hidden treasure and you pay by the pound.

After 6 hours of shopping we made it home with a huge stash of great inspiration I can’t wait to start digging into for some fall designs!

P.S. A HUGE thanks to my bestest pal Lisa for taking the trip with me…..she was my friend, personal assistant, moral support, treasure finder, photographer, map reader, delivery coordinator, purse holder all wrapped up into one!!! You rock Lisa!!! Love you!!!

Ugh, did I mention we had a big earthquake? The center was right next to us too. It felt like the house was going to come down and huge waves of water sloshing out of the pool. Boo was at school down the street…..I literally was out of the house in seconds even leaving the back door open. Everyone was okay, just shaken up. A reminder to restock my disaster kit again!


Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I’ve been working on some little shorts/tee matching lady bug sets to upload to Big Cartel sometime on Monday. Then I’m going to retire the ladybug until next year! Check the Lil Blue Boo Facebook page for listing times!

New Things for Boo

I’ve talked about this before….how Boo rarely gets store-bought items….well I’m giving in a little. I’m not a shopper, I just don’t have time for it….so when I do buy new things it’s kind of newsworthy! Here are a few of my new favorite things:

Dresses by Mary at Green Goat:
Hand dyed using low impact dyes that are better for the environment, and then screen printed using non-toxic inks. Gorgeous! Perfect for our hot desert heat. A green owl……


…..and the purple hummingbird and wildflowers:

Boo picked out the yellow dragonfly shoes….they are a size too big but she insisted on wearing them yesterday. We also have 2 green pairs featuring a Japanese doll. I love that she can put them on by herself.
