Project Run and Play: Week 2

I made it through to the second week of Project Run and Play! There is some tough competition! (click here to see last week’s challenge) This week’s challenge was to take the Leila and Ben Sweet Dress pattern and reinterpret it. I love the simple, basic lines of the Sweet Dress pattern….it’s always been one of my favorites. Using some vintage trim and a braided leather headband as my inspiration, I made a bohemian peasant dress: The Li’l Boho


The Li’l Boho Dress is a two-layer dress with the bottom layer peeking out from underneath. The color palette is muted using 2 tones of ecofriendly, organic cotton. I altered and recut the sleeves to be a delicate double flutter.


I added a slightly frayed, embroidered vintage trim to the front that double wraps to tie in the back, creating an empire waist.


Our desert setting was a perfect location for a carefree, barefoot photo shoot.


The Li’l Boho dress represents a free, independent, and spiritual little girl:


I love this photo….it looks like she’s getting ready to cast a spell 🙂

The Li’l Sally Doll Dress Pattern

Please….no more requests to publish my knit doll dress pattern…because it’s done! Finally!


This doll dress pattern comes complete with photo by photo instructions and three pattern sizes fitting a variety of dolls including 10″ and 15″ Waldorf-style dolls (like our Apple Tree House Doll Li’l Sally below):


The sizes also fit American Girl and Bitty Baby/Twins. Here is our Pottery Barn baby Abby modeling the 15″ size:


Li’l Sally has a LOT of Li’l Sally Dresses:


We have so much fun matching Boo up with her dolls (you can use my Sienna Dress Pattern to make a knit girl’s dress to coordinate):


And if you happen to have a 2.5 pound Yorkie like we do…..well, things get out of control sometimes!

 

Paper Doll Silk Screens!

Inspired by my Paper Doll Dress pattern……


….I silk screened some paper doll cutouts for some dresses! The “Rock, Paper, Scissors” dresses were available today:


And the “China Doll” dresses will be available sometime tomorrow morning:


I’ve been collecting some beautiful silky, swingy knits for the bottom of these dress/tunics….so that they are ultra-twirly! It almost hurts to cut into them 🙂
